ANGRY residents who endured months of disruption while new sewers were laid say they have been left with a muddy - and potentially dangerous - legacy of the work.

A public patch of land at the corner of Marlpool Lane and Hay Close, Kidderminster, has been stripped of its greenery and left with high muddy mounds of earth and stones.

It was previously a grassy haven until contractors Tomlinson's fenced it off to use it as a compound for machinery and toilets while workmen laid the new sewers.

When the work finished in early October, fencing was taken down and the site cleared up - but there has been no sign of restoration work.

Resident Robert Noble said he and his neighbours were angry at the delay - particularly as yobs had used bricks and stones left behind as "ammunition" to damage cars and homes.

"My car windscreen was damaged by stones thrown at it and another resident's glass front door was broken only last week.

"It seems unfair that we had to go through six months of noise and mess, with compressors and pumps left on all day and night - and now we have this muddy heap to look at."

A Wyre Forest District Council spokesman said responsibility for restoring the land to its previous state lay with the contractors.

The firm has been asked to put up temporary fencing until the weather improves and allows the site to be grassed over.

Melvyn Cousins, a manager from Tomlinson's, was unwilling to discuss the matter.
