EVESHAM Rugby Club's miserable season plunged to new depths at Nuneaton last Saturday.

The Avon Street outfit lost for the ninth time in nine Midlands Three West (South) outings as league leaders Old Edwardians rattled up an emphatic 91-5 win.

The defeat left Evesham four points adrift at the foot of the table with little hope of a change in fortunes.

However, Pershore's 38-12 defeat of Birmingham Exiles meant the position of their Worcestershire rivals wasn't worsened.

Perhaps a little hope of comfort for Evesham comes in the shape of new year fixtures. They entertain fellow strugglers Keresley and Southam on January 4 and 18 respectively before attempting to salvage more pride in the local derby when Pershore visit Avon Street on February 1.
