ONE evening earlier this month a young girl took command of the situation at a bus stop in Windermere Drive, Warndon, whereby an elderly lady, aged 85,fell and injured her head.

The bus stop is opposite a superstore goods entrance. There was no lighting and the kerb is indistinct.

The lady tripped on the kerb and went down, sustaining a nasty head wound.

The girl - I did not discover her name - was in her teens and had long hair, plaited in the African style.

She rapidly took control, summoned an ambulance on her mobile, then comforted the lady and staunched the bleeding.

The paper tissues were rapidly running out so she told me to run across to the supermarket to get some, which I did.

She remained with the lady until the ambulance arrived and then left once the lady was being taken care of.

I hope she sees this letter. She deserves a commendation for being such an angel to someone in distress. God bless you.
