Pershore 38pts, Birmingham Exiles 12

AN impressive first half performance saw Pershore have the points sewn up by half-time.

The Piddle Park outfit crossed the line five times as they dominated in most areas particularly in the line-out where Levin Widmer and Adrian Suckling made towering contributions.

From a sound platform the backs ran with confidence. Steve Holmes scored the first of his two tries in the opening five minutes following a break down the blind side of a scrum.

A set-piece move in the backs then allowed Ben Pullin to carve his way through the Exiles' defence to touch down.

A quick tapped penalty from the improving Adrian Hanson led to Pullin sprinting away to double his tally.

Forward pressure on the Exiles' line was finally rewarded when Steve Holmes crashed through a stretched defence.

With half-time approaching, a further Holmes break was stopped just short of the line, but the ever lively Marcus Whyte was in support to collect the pop pass and touch down.

Robin Haines converted four of the scores for a 31-point interval advantage.

To Exiles' credit their performance in the second half was inspired.

They scored two tries of their own through Jones and Gittins but an interception try by Hanson for converted by Haines ended the scoring and sealed Pershore's sixth league win in a row.
