The annual craft competition was won jointly by Audrey Rudd and Mary Collings, who will each hold the plate for six months.

A party of members went to see Half a Sixpence, performed by Chaddesley Amateur Theatrical Society.

In November, Vic Hemingway gave a talk on The Gunpowder Plot. He told how the Throckmorton family had much to do with the planning.

They were Roman Catholic and the King was Protestant, and this was the reason behind the plot, as there was a £20 per month fine for anyone who did not attend Protestant church services.

The first meeting of the New Year will be on January 15, when Mike Draper will finish his talk on The River Severn, this time concentrating on the stretch of the river from Bridgnorth to the sea.

The meeting, at Chaddesley Corbett village hall, starts at 2pm.
