Evesham Utd 1,

Bromsgrove Rvrs 0

SKIPPER Nathan Jukes fired in a stunning stoppage time winner that could kickstart United's inconsistent season.

The midfielder smashed the ball into the Bromsgrove net from all of 25 yards to secure his side's first win in six matches and sentence the visitors to only their third Weston Division defeat of the season.

A second successive scoreless encounter looked on the cards after the woodwork had denied both sides.

Steve Lutz hit the crossbar from a Shaun Pratt centre and then Neil Cartwright was similarly frustrated in the first half when his effort struck a post.

Phil Mullen recalled Wesley Joyce into attack and the versatility man went close to breaking the deadlock in a half in which the Robins outbattled their lofty Worcestershire rivals.

Both defences were again on top, with Inderpaul Khela the top performer as Chris Taylor kept a second successive clean sheet.

The goalkeeper, though, was forced into serious action to push aside James Dyson's 54th header.

Evesham had bossed the contest after the restart and Lutz scuffed a chance wide from Paul Hunter's centre.

The home side introduced latest signing, Neil Illman, for Paul West 20 minutes from time as the defender limped off.

Joyce moved into the back line, while his replacement's first touch saw the ball hooked narrowly wide.

Just when another two points seemed set to escape, Jukes came up trumps with a magical winner to send around 40 per cent of the biggest crowd of the season - 234 home happy as the ball hurtled into the top corner.
