A BRETFORTON man has hit out at fly tippers who dumped an entire bathroom suite on his land.

Warwick Partington, of Station Road, said he was "disgusted" by the indiscriminate actions of the tippers and said it was the latest episode in a growing problem in the village.

He has called on environmental health officers to take action to address the issue.

Mr Partington discovered the bathroom items - which included a bath, toilet, washbasin, lino and floor felt - last Saturday when he went to his apple orchard and field in Station Road.

He described it as "one of many recent incidents" along the road, adding: "There is obviously one or perhaps two individuals who return to dump whatever they wish in the gateways along the tracks in the fields.

"It ranges from garden waste to domestic rubbish." Mr Partington said he and his neighbours were "completely fed up" with the continuing problem.

He went on: "We are trying to keep the local countryside clean, tidy and productive yet, because of the wanton fly tipping, our fields and the roadside are becoming a bigger eyesore than Throckmorton tip."

He said he had been forced to erect a temporary fence across his field to prevent further dumping and intended to apply for planning permission to install a permanent one, with gates, in the spring.

Mr Partington has written to Wychavon District Council's environmental health section, asking for environmental health officers to tackle the ongoing problems.

He gathered up the tipped items and left them in the dumped bath for the district council to collect.

The council's environmental protection manager, Geoff Carpenter, however, said: "The council always investigates cases of fly tipping.

"However, in cases involving private land, if the council cannot prove who dumped the waste and it's not harmful, then it's up to the landowner to dispose of it properly."
