WYRE Forest Brintons came back from an early two-goal deficit to beat visiting Leominster Town 5-3 in West Midlands League Division One South.

Having lost two back-to-back matches against rivals Chaddesley Corbett, Forest Brintons were desperate for a win.

But they got off to the worst possible start when Leominster scored twice in the first five minutes through Neil Bennett and Jamie Clark after poor defending.

Lee Andrews pulled one back for Forest Brintons in a goalmouth scramble when his close-range shot just crept in past keeper Phillips.

The home side were forced to make a change when Simon Wills replaced the injured Dwight Carter.

The second half saw the equaliser when Andy Oakes's free-kick hit the bar and Andrews scored from the rebound.

Oakes put Forest Brintons ahead on 65 minutes but Leominster equalised when Robert Dew played a ball across his own area straight to Clark who crashed the ball past the helpless Darren Pace.

But Forest were not to be denied and an over-head kick by Oakes saw Phillips well beaten.

Oakes completed his hat-trick with another fine strike before 19-year-old Nathan Eyres made his debut.

Forest Brintons' next game is at Ledbury Town Reserves on Saturday, December 28, when players will meet at the Hare and Hounds at noon.
