Music runs in the family for Will Hunt, whose dad Bill was the original keyboard and French horn player in Wizzard and shoe cousin Miles Hunt is lead singer of the Wonderstuff.

Will has been featured more than once on Evening News pop pages, and may well be remembered for his part in the band Soapbox, which has now split up.

But the ex-frontman has just moved to London to make it as a solo artist.

The songwriter, vocalist and guitarist has recently played solo with Deacon Blue, Paul Carrack of Squeeze and Juliet Turner.

"I played with Deacon Blue on tour for three or four months," he says.

"It was just me and a guitar supporting them. We did some great gigs.

"The band are a generation before me - I was born in 1981 - so I went through the old records in the house and had a listen to some of their stuff before the tour.

"I really enjoyed the music and they're great to get on with."

Will, a fan of Carrack, played a one off-gig with him in Cheltenham.

"I'd bought tickets for a gig and got a phone call asking if I could support him," says Will.

"He's one of my favourite song writers."

He'd not met Turner until he supported her in Birmingham, but knew she was a massive artist in Ireland.

"She' supported U2, Westlife and Sting," he says.

"It was her first tour over here. Artistically we have a lot in common."

Will has also recently recorded an album at his home studio in Bromsgrove.

"David Gray recorded White Ladder in his bedroom, so I asked myself 'why can't I go in that direction?'" The resulting album, Entertaining Archie, has six tracks.

Since Will's prime support slots, he has moved down to London to establish contacts.

"It's about being around, showing your face at gigs, meeting promoters and checking out the competition and the music scene," he says.

"I'm really excited about it."
