THE Mayor of Worcester's chosen charities are quids-in following help from city people.
An open evening at the Guildhall staged by the Worcester in Bloom Association, Worcester Allotment Forum and the city council's parks section raised £250 for the Worcestershire Association for the Blind and St Richard's Hospice.
It followed a presentation evening last month at Huntingdon Hall at which prizes were handed out to allotment holders and gardeners who took part in the annual awards.
Displays
Around 80 gardeners attended the open evening last month, which included a demonstration on how to create festive floral displays by Sharon Gregg of Absolute Perfection.
There was also a raffle at which the displays were given as prizes and a chance for those attending to buy photographs of the presentation evening and the gardens.
"It was a great pleasure to be able to raise money for good causes in Worcester through the Mayor's charities," said Chris Waterfall, community and development officer with the city council.
"I'd like to thank all those who helped us raise the cash. Helping the community is very important and I look forward to doing so again in the future."
