THE UK still has the choice to remain Genetically Modified (GM) free and people can still exert an influence.

The trials are coming to a close and the results will be published in spring next year.

If GM crops are grown commercially in Britain, you will be unable to buy organic produce that is guaranteed GM free.

Birds and insects or pollen carried on the air may transfer the genes, that are in the GM crop to make it resistant to herbicides or pests, to the organic crops. GM crops are grown to feed animals. You will have no choice over what you eat.

In Canada and the US, where many GM crops are grown, there are plants that have been contaminated. The farmers are finding that they have to use more and more herbicides/insecticides instead of less. It is said that these GM crops will reduce the use of chemicals. It has been proved untrue.

If you want to eat chemical-free food then write and complain. Do not leave it to your neighbours. If you want chemical-free food, then protest now.
