THREE students from Malvern and Martley Shukokai Karate Clubs competed in the Samurai Karate National Championships held at Hereford Leisure Centre.
Daniel Hutchinson fought very well to win his first fight but was eliminated in the following round, losing only by one point. Matthew Hutchinson fought hard into the semi-finals to take bronze. The greatest success of the day was achieved by Rob Steven who competing for the first time, won first place in his division and gained the title of National Champion 2002.
Their instructor Sensei Cliff Green said that despite facing strong opponents from England and Wales the three had showed excellent spirit and sportsmanship.
