CURTAINS that once hung in the study at Elgar's Hereford home, Plas Gwyn, have been given to the Birthplace Museum, at Lower Broadheath, where they have now been hung at the study window.
The curtains are a gift from a great-nephew of the composer, Paul Grafton and his wife Angela, together with a contemporary watercolour by Elgar's niece Clare Grafton, showing the curtains in his study at Plas Gwyn, where he lived from 1904 to 1911.
Museum director Catherine Sloan said: "It's fascinating to have the painting's evidence to guide us in reuniting the curtains with the desk in the room we have set out as the composer's study.
"Clare Grafton was one of three daughters of Elgar's sister Pollie, to whom the composer remained very close throughout his life."
