AN Evesham man whose early ambition was to become a concert pianist is now playing a big part in a new IT company, determined to carve out a niche market in the town and surrounding area.

Christopher Cox is a director of C7 Solutions Ltd (www.c7solutions.com) offering IT training and consultancy, and he explained: "We set ourselves up as a company expressly to provide innovative IT training and consultancy, and for many years we have been running training on new and specialist Microsoft products. We also specialise in Oracle databases and Nokia security combined with Check Point VPN-1/Firewall-1."

All the directors of C7 Solutions are former employees of John Bryce Training, formerly Aris Education, and the client list includes BT, Microsoft, Dell, Nokia, Reed-Elsevier Publishing and Credit Suisse First Boston, but Mr Cox said he hoped many local companies would see the benefit of enhancing the way their IT systems could be optimised to help their business requirements. The company was also keen to help individuals gain knowledge and even professional certifications in IT.

Educated at St Andrew's First School, Hampton, and Prince Henry's High School, Mr Cox studied for a music degree at Trinity College of Music, London, where he intended to develop as a concert pianist. He completed a PGCE and, after a time working in London, taught in Ethiopia for three years and then Dubai, also for three years.

In 1996, as well as getting married, he returned to Evesham and embarked on an MSc in multimedia at Cheltenham while also working to become a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.

After gaining wide experience, Mr Cox began to specialise more and more in security and to expand his experience with non-Microsoft products.

He said: "Inevitably the IT markets are in the south east or overseas, but I have no plans to leave the area and am therefore keen to offer our services to as many local companies as possible.

"We can cater for almost all IT requirements as the seven founding directors have complimentary areas of specialisms."
