WORK could start soon on a new NHS dental clinic for Malvern.
Members of Malvern Hills District Council's southern area planning committee this week approved a plan to build the clinic on land off Osbourne Road, Malvern Link.
The application was made by South Worcestershire NHS Primary Care Trust.
The clinic will offer NHS dental care for patients not registered with an existing NHS dentist.
With an estimated price tag of £270,000, the building will have two surgeries, office, staff room and waiting room, plus parking space for a mobile dental clinic.
Dr Alan McMichael, the trust's consultant for dental public health, said: "Now that planning permission has been received, I don't anticipate there being any long delays.
"One of my colleagues has indicated we are ready to go out to tender. The building and fitting-out time will be about to nine months to a year, so it will probably be ready towards the end of 2003."
The clinic will be sited near Seaford Court, the proposed location for Malvern's long-awaited new community hospital.
