All welcome.

West Malvern Cricket Club's AGM will take place tonight (Friday) at the Brewers' Arms. A fortnight later the club's well-established annual Christmas party will be held at the Foley Arms on Friday December 6. With good food and company and music by honorary West Malvernians, former residents Vo, Rachael and Joe Fletcher, a first-class evening is in prospect, starting around 7.30pm and ending at midnight. There are still some tickets available (£15) from Dave Cantrell at 28 Mathon Road, tel 572764, email dave@dcantrell.co.uk.

The cricket club's first winter quiz last Saturday included a novelty round devised by question-setters Bob and Valerie Blackbourn. This involved identifying the flavours of ten different crisps and snacks! The quiz was won by 'Down Under' - the previously successful team of Martin and Ruth Reed and Wilf and Sharon Keeley. Second were 'Rolf 'n' Kylie's Bottom'. Richard Hammond and Simon Spencer's 'A Nonny Mouse' was voted the best team name, and the raffle draw saw Bob Blackbourn carry off the prestigious and highly sought-after notelets!

West Malvern can look forward to a new 21st century sewage treatment plant in just over a year's time! It will be on the same site as the present ageing facility alongside the track to Bank Farm off the bottom of Croft Bank. Completion of the project is planned for March 2004. Severn Trent Water say the work is unlikely either to generate traffic problems or adversely affect the landscape.
