A GROUP of senior doctors and nurses from Herefordshire are going on a fact-finding mission to the US next month.
The main party will spend a week visiting services in Sacramento, while a smaller group will visit a specialist orthopaedic centre in New York and centres in Nashville and Washington.
The visit will be hosted by Kaiser Permanante, one of the largest organisers of healthcare in the US.
"The work of Kaiser Permanante has attracted a lot of interest internationally, especially its claims to have achieved shorter lengths of stay for patients admitted to hospital," said Dr Mike Deakin, director of Public Health for Herefordshire.
The visiting party will consist of senior consultants from Hereford County Hospital, local GPs, two nurses and the chief executives of Herefordshire Primary Care Trust and Hereford Hospitals NHS Trust. They fly out on Monday, December 2.
