A FATHER-of-four faces losing his job after he was caught drink-driving.

Gary Clifford Vaughan, aged 35, was stopped as he drove his Bedford van on Sunday evening.

Kiernan Cunningham, prosecuting, said police in an unmarked car stopped Vaughan, who identified himself as Clifford Vaughan.

"He was taken to the police station where a breath test reading showed him to have 42mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, which was over the limit of 35mcg."

Vaughan refused the opportunity to have a blood test, which was offered as he was only marginally over the limit.

Vaughan, representing himself, said he was surprised to have found himself in court.

"I honestly thought I was under the limit," said the 35-year-old, of Glenmore, Eckington.

"I'm going to lose my job because of this."

He added that he had four children and hoped he would find other employment.

Magistrates fined him £180, ordered him to pay £55 costs and banned him from driving for 12 months.
