TOWN might have gone out of the WFA Senior Urn at Studley on Wednesday night, but the scoreline barely reflects on a performance which saw Town dominate the game for long periods, but miss a catalogue of chances.

TUDLEY BKL 3, MALVERN TOWN 1

Not surprisingly Town's higher graded opponents started the game at a pace that Town have not come up against in recent weeks and a well worked goal gave their hosts a 10th minute lead.

Town soon got into their stride and might have equalised on a number of occasions, but were denied predominantly by a series of fine saves by Studley goalkeeper Danny Lewis. Twice he dived to his left to save headers from Des Cox and Dean Roberts and then saved comfortably from Nathan Owen, who headed straight into his arms from an unmarked position.

But disaster struck for Town in the ten minutes immediately prior to half time. Defender Pete Roberts sustained a shoulder injury, which briefly reduced Town to ten men and whilst trying to re- organise, Malvern were hit by two strikes in as many minutes.

To their credit Town started the second period with three up front and took the game to their experienced hosts but again were foiled on chance after chance.

The richly deserved consolation came for Town in the 84th minute when Ricky Halion at last got the better of Lewis with a shot from the edge of the box.

Davis had one more opportunity to pull another goal back and perhaps give Studley an uncomfortable last couple of minutes, but it was not to be for Malvern who went out of the Urn for the second year running to the Midlands Alliance outfit.
