CALLING all people who lived in the Foxwell Street area of Worcester between 1930 and 1945, or who went to Red Hill School during the same 15-year period.

You're invited to a re-union in the autumn to chat over childhood days in this southern corner of the Faithful City.

The re-union, on Saturday, October 13, at St Martin's Parish Hall, is the wish of Mrs Ann Windham (maiden name, Hunt) who has spent most of her married life in America, but who has been in Worcester in recent years because of family commitments.

She was the inspiration for a 1991 re-union of Foxwell Street residents and past pupils of Red Hill School from her childhood era. She was then on a visit home from Florida and obviously wanted to catch up with old friends and former classmates at this social get-together in St Martin's Parish Hall.

Ann and husband Don are to return to the USA soon to live in Seattle, but before she leaves it is her dearest wish to have another re-union of friends from the 1930-45 period.

Alas, she says it's almost certain to be the last such get-together.

I've been learning about the re-union plans from Mrs Doria Michael, a member of the Cole family who spent many happy years as Foxwell Street residents - parents Alf and Clarice Cole and daughters Doria, Hazel, Glenys and Clarice. All four Cole "girls" still live in and around Worcester and are married.

The late Alf Cole spent much of his working life with National Benzole.

Mrs Michael says the Foxwell Street area of the 1930s and 40s was home to several sizeable families including the Farleys, Stantons, Ramseys and Wilds. A friend of Doria's at the time was Eileen Sears (now Mrs Brooker) who lived next door.

"There are one or two people still living in their original family homes in Foxwell Street including Maggie, daughter of Mr and Mrs Fudger, who were caretakers for a long time at Red Hill School.

"In our childhood days, Foxwell Street was certainly a good place. We enjoyed street games and also played nearby on what was known as Cadburys' Park, a beautiful place where wild strawberries grew," recalls Mrs Michael.

People who fit the location and time-scale criteria (the Foxwell Street/Red Hill area and/or Red Hill School - 1930-45) and who would like to be at the forthcoming re-union are asked to contact Doria Michael on 01905-424683, Jean Lockyer on 01905-352632 or Joan Nind on 01905-351157.
