MALVERN Town have signed 19-year-old Worcester City midfielder Lee Goodman.

Goodman, who was on the verge of City's first team squad for most of last season, has joined Town in his search for regular first team football.

Ironically Goodman was originally a member of Malvern's U16 side, but the talented youngster was quickly spotted by City, and has spent the last two seasons at St George's Lane.

Goodman will go straight into the Town side for tomorrow's (Saturday) home Express and Star West Midlands League Premier Division game against Lye Town (2.45pm).

Town have also signed French defender Eugene Azor, Azor was at Bilston Town last season and has previously played semi pro football in his native country.

Malvern general manager Richard Anson said: "We are delighted to have signed Lee, who will be a valuable addition to the side."

"Personally, I see no reason why he should not get another crack at Doc Martens football, but for now we can offer him regular first team football and with that the opportunity to re establish himself."

"We will also take a look at Eugene, he trained with us on Wednesday and has just moved into the area and might be an asset, but we will have to wait and see how things work out."

Town, who are currently in the bottom three, will be hoping to follow up last Saturday's 5-0 success against Rainworth MW in the FA Carlsberg Vase.

For the Lye game Malvern will select from the following:

Moss, Williams (R), Cannon, Williams (C), Clayton, Wade, Ward, Walker, Whittal-Williams, Cox, Goodman, Halion, Azor, Hooper, Smith and Jones.

Town Reserves, who last Saturday conceded two goals in the last five minutes to go down 3-1 at Hinton, in the Express and Star West Midlands League Division 1 (S), make the reverse trip to their Lye Town counterparts in another league fixture on Saturday (2.45pm).

There is a busy week of U18 football this week, Bromyard visit the Langland Stadium for a Midland Youth League fixture on Monday (7.45pm) and on Thursday the Town youngsters visit Quorn in the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup (7.30pm).

Town will be running a coach to next Saturday's FA Carlsberg Vase second qualifying round tie at Halesowen Harriers-based Brierley Hill. The cost is £5 and details and bookings can be made with any club official, either at Saturday's game or at the ground during next week.
