DRINKERS at a Worcester pub are set to be catapulted to fame today when a TV crew from Channel 4's Richard and Judy show films in the Cornmarket.
For weeks, Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan have been trying to trace their family trees and have discovered Richard's roots lie in Worcester.
With a little help from Worcestershire Library and History Centre, researchers discovered one of his relations owned Bulford and Madeley on Mealcheapen Street. Age Concern occupies the shop now.
"We have old trade directories which list the businesses in Worcester and found this shop in the 1904 register," said Teresa Nixon, head of repositories at the history centre.
"We looked in the 1901 census where there is a reference to a Henry Madeley."
The TV show then got in touch with Ray Brierley and Donna McDonald, who run the Exchange Pub in the Cornmarket. Researchers believe Henry Madeley might also have worked there.
Film crews were due to film at both the Exchange and the Worcester Library and History Centre between 2pm and 3pm today. The footage is due to be aired on next Tuesday's show.
