LEON Jackson has agreed to join Hinckley United for a small fee after failing to win a regular first team place at Worcester City.

The midfielder's 12-month spell at the club has been blighted by injury and recently suspension which has restricted his starting appearances to just 26.

Jackson arrived from Bilston Town last December and made a promising start to his City career. But he damaged medial ligaments scoring his first goal for the club against Newport Isle of Wight.

Manager John Barton was fulsome in his praise of the 24-year-old who was a popular figure around the club.

"In terms of attitude he has been excellent and a pleasure to have around," said Barton.

"He was unlucky with injury to his knee and ankle and more recently suspension which have stopped his momentum and denied him the opportunity to show what he can really do.

"I've spoken to Leon and from both our sides the move has not worked out the way we wanted it to and perhaps he has a chance of more regular first team football at Hinckley."

Table-topping Worcester visit Weymouth tomorrow (3pm) in the Dr Martens Premier Division with Barton warning his players they must cope with the pressure of being leaders.

"We have to handle being top and the last two matches have shown us that we are there to be shot at," he said.
