THE ludicrous assertion by Ahmed Raza that the Iraqis are content with Saddam Hussain because 98 per cent of the populace voted for him reminds me of the Zambian Presidential elections, when I lived there in the 1970s.
Kenneth Kaunda was the only candidate and the unofficial version of the voting rules went as follows.
"In the voting station you will find two black boxes. If you vote for President Kaunda, put your voting slip in one black box.
"If you do not vote for the President, you will be put in the other black box."
Under these conditions you could elect a three-toed sloth to power.
