HOT on the heels of the Morgan Aero 8's stunning return to international GT racing at Le Mans, Morgan's renaissance in top class motor racing is set to continue next year in the British GT Championship.
Minister for Sport Richard Caborn unveiled a new Morgan race car designed for the championship at the Motorsport Day of the British Motor Show.
The new sprint racing versions of the Aero 8, developed by at Morgan's Malvern factory by its race car arm Aero 8 Racing, will run in a new 'Cup Class'. This is a specification introduced by the British Racing Driver's Club (BRDC) to attract new entries from high-performance GT cars built to a lower specification than the current GTO class.
Meanwhile, Morgan Motor Company is continuing discussions with potential sponsorship partners to make a works Le Mans entry feasible in 2003.
