RISING talent Ashley Read has been invited to train with West Bromwich Albion later in the month.

The Bromsgrove Rovers youngster has caught the eye of the Hawthorns club but he still has a big part to play at The Victoria Ground says manager Gary Hackett.

Read, who will train with Albion from November 18, will be in the Rovers squad to face Cinderford Town tomorrow (3pm) as Rovers attempt to preserve their lead at the top of the Dr Martens Western Division.

"West Brom have been impressed with Ashley and wanted to monitor him but he's under contract with Rovers and will stop with us," said Hackett.

"He's predominantly a striker but we played him in a left wing back role and it never hurt anybody to have more than one string to their bow."

Rovers, who lost 1-0 to an WBA U21 team in midweek, will be without Mark Benbow tomorrow as the full back starts a three match ban for being sent off against Solihull Borough.

Managers Hackett and Jon Ford are also sweating over the availability of Fraser McHugh who has been struck down with a stomach bug.

Grant Beckett and Neil Cartwright are definitely out but Matt Southwick is available having fully recovered from a hamstring strain.
