BAITING Malvern Town Council seems very much in season these days so might I bring up the subject of litter.

It appears that though the collection of litter is the responsibility of MHDC the provision of bins is the town council's. As a result, since the unnecessary splitting of the two authorities, this has meant that in Graham Road, where there are two takeaways, there is nowhere to dispose of cardboard boxes, plastic cups, empty bottles and paper which one gets with outdoor eating. Some of this inevitably gets thrown into the garden of Edith Lodge.

For several years there was one inadequate bin and a broken down metal basket; there was no money to replace them apparently. For the last few months even these have disappeared and remonstrating has not improved matters.

The council has either had no money or the replacements have had to be put out to tender to get Best Value. Visits, telephone calls, letters have had no effect. Should one perhaps leave the bags of rubbish in, what is increasingly being thought as unnecessary, their office on Belle Vue Terrace?
