WELLAND'S youthful side completely dominated the first half of this Worcester Saturday Division One match with the midfield creating three excellent chances for Coles, Craddock and Thackeray.
NEW INN 2002 2, WELLAND ATHLETIC 1
It seemed but a matter of time before Welland scored, whose defence of Radnor, Coles and Furlong was rarely troubled.
Even after New Inn scored after Eccleston had punched well clear, Welland replied swiftly to equalise as Saunder was upended in the box and drove the penalty into the net.
Welland should have gone 2-1 up immediately as Amott was put through one on one but shot straight at the keeper. Against the run of play, but confirming the importance of converting chances when they arrived, New Inn scored with a long range header which tucked inside the post beyond the outstretched Eccleston. New Inn then defended well to hang on for a 2-1 victory.
Welland at home tomorrow (Saturday) to Langland Sports, kick off 2.15pm at the Hill, Upton.
