AN appeal for a donation of a set of outside Christmas lights has been made by the Upton-upon-Severn Tourism and Trade Association.
The group wants to make the town look as festive as possible over the Christmas period and would like to see lights on one of the trees outside the old church.
Last year lights belonging to Rowan Thomas were used, but 42 bulbs of 120 were smashed by vandals.
However, at a meeting of the association's executive committee on Monday night Nick Hannah said that refusing to even contemplate putting more up would be "letting a small minority of kids win".
"I think the more decorations we get in the town, the better," he added.
Sue Walker also said that last year was the first time the lights had fallen prey to vandals.
The committee agreed that displays in Pershore and Tewkesbury attract people to the towns, and something similar in Upton could help bring people in during the festive season.
Anyone with any lights suitable for draping round the tree can drop them off at Cromwell's on Church Street.
