THE Summerfield Collection is the subject of a talk to be given by Mr Simon Chorley of Bruton Knowles. Ron Summerfield was the Cheltenham antiques dealer who amassed an enormous collection during his lifetime in his Cheltenham properties. Mr Chorley was involved with the sale of this collection.

So on Friday, November 15, commencing at 7.30pm, an illustrated talk will be given by Simon who is now a Bushley resident.

Tickets are £5 each, to include refreshments. Further information from Andrew Crowther on (01684) 294177 or John Wilkes (01684) 273435.

It is probably at least 25 years ago that the Village Hall Committee started organising supper dances to raise money for the hall - a new one was being built at the time. Over the years thousands of pounds have been raised by these functions, in fact the hall could not survive without them.

Four dances are usually held throughout the year, the main one is on New Year's Eve but also Valentines Day, Mid-summers Day and Halloween are also celebrated. The support received for these dances are excellent and, dare I say, guests are mostly middle aged but very young at heart.

There is nowhere else in the vicinity where such dances are held for that particular generation. The majority of guests have been supporting these dances for years, and they genuinely enjoy themselves. The Village Hall Committee are very grateful for the support they receive and long may it continue. The Halloween Dance was held on Friday, November 1, over 100 guests attended and our old friend Geoff George supplied the music. On this occasion approximately £450 was made for the hall fund. Many thanks to all those who attended, no doubt they will be back again on December 31.
