A DEDICATED woman who has delivered the Evening News for 40 years has decided to hang up her paper bag for good.

Seventy-nine-year-old Mary White has walked the streets of Peopleton, near Pershore, handing readers their daily copy since the days before the Beatles were a household name.

Mrs White, who is eagerly looking forward to her well-earned retirement, will be leaving customers in the capable hands of the papers' direct delivery service.

Service

"Thank you to all our readers who have supported Mary over the years and we look forward to giving you your continued service," said Sarah Harris, direct delivery supervisor at the Evening News.

"We will be carrying on delivering papers as normal and there will be no change to the delivery service that customers have enjoyed."

She retires tomorrow, and to acknowledge her hard work and commitment over the years, Mrs White was presented with a huge bouquet of flowers on behalf of the Evening News.
