THE Worcestershire Field Championships were staged in gale-force conditions at Feckenham.

The customary two circuits of the course were cut to one of 20 targets set at unknown distances in both wooded and open field areas and a trio of Evesham members came away victorious.

Malcolm Porter won the gents' recurve championship, Linda Haines triumphed in the ladies, while Ian Trout was crowned gents' compound champion.

Six Evesham archers took part in Stourbridge's annual Worcester at Smethwick.

This unusual round consists of five dozen arrows, shot in ends of five at a five zone black target with a 7 centimetre white centre spot.

Evesham ladies dominated their recurve championship taking the top three positions. Lisa Illingworth came first Linda Haines was second and Barbara Stanway third.

Peter Williams took second place in the gents' recurve with Malcolm Porter taking the B Classification medal.

The two Summer Postal Leagues have shown Eve-sham can perform well against the best clubs in Eng-land.

The West Midlands Society Championships, consisting of a different round shot every month between May and September, saw Evesham win the championship from the 20 clubs taking part.

A similar format with the National Selby League had Evesham a creditable second in the recurve section and third in the compound

The Grand National Soci-ety's junior summer postal competition had more 280 archers taking part.

County Champion Jacquie Williams won the junior girls' compound section with a score of 600 out of 648.
