COMMUNITY-minded people in Pershore are being urged to pool together and take part in an event aimed at ensuring a brighter future for the town.

The Pershore Forum is a joint initiative between Wychavon District and Worcestershire County Councils. It will be held at the newly-opened leisure centre on Saturday from 2pm to 4pm and visitors will be able to hear plans for Pershore's future from a variety of local groups and organisations.

High school pupils will join representatives from various groups, including the town council, the Civic Trust, Number 8 and the Market Towns Partnership to have their say on the future of Pershore.

Afterwards, residents will have the chance to talk to the speakers and council officers and can put their views on graffiti boards or in suggestion boxes.

Wychavon's community planning officer Robin Mace said: "Earlier this year we held a successful forum in Evesham which saw lots of interesting topics being raised. Now we are bringing the forum to Pershore so people can have the chance to see how we are working for the town's future. It is also an opportunity for young and old to let us know if we are getting it right."

Information gathered on the day will be collated and will help in the formation of Wychavon's community plan to improve the quality of life for residents.
