A STUDLEY vicar believes the majority of people under the age of 40 do not know the Lord's Prayer.
The Rev Richard Deimel, of Studley Parish Church, spoke out after being struck by how few people at weddings and other services are able to say it.
Now he is attempting to reverse the trend by teaching the prayer and its meaning at Studley Junior School.
Though the Church of England is worried about dwindling attendance at services, Mr Deimel said his congregations in the past year had grown - which he was pleased about.
Meanwhile, Studley Parish Church holds its Alternative Halloween tomorrow starting at the Parish Centre at 5.30pm.
Instead of wearing black and dressing up as ghosts and ghouls, children are encouraged to wear the brightest colours possible and can even win a prize for the best effort.
The evening is always popular and there is plenty of entertainment for all, including a bonfire and food.
