DEAR EDITOR - I feel it is my duty, as a devoted 17-year-old member of the Norbury Theatre, Droitwich, to respond to the letter of the resident of Norbury House. I appreciate that it is indeed a free country, and we are all entitled to the right of free speech and so I am going to exercise this right presently.

I feel for the resident, I really do, with the parking, and noise, but when they were knocked over, did they report it to the police - seemingly not, after all, can they be sure the person responsible was to do with the theatre?

If they had been dropping someone off or picking up, the driver would surely have had to stop - or at least slow down - to let anyone in or out of the car!

Does the writer have any supporting evidence that the damage caused to their car was carried out by someone attending or leaving the theatre? I know many of those who attend the theatre well. They are all mature people, who would not inflict this upon the residents, as they understand the need for a harmonious relationship.

With three public houses within 100 yards of Norbury House, it would be just as easy to point the finger of blame at those who may, perhaps, have been a little intoxicated?

The parking issue is, I believe, a little out of hand. I feel it would be better taken up with the Norbury Theatre committee, or those that run the Youth Theatre.

I cannot, however, accept that the verbal abuse comes from the parents of those attending the Youth Theatre. Please, do not immediately jump in and blame it on the people trying desperately hard to keep part of your town's heritage alive.

Finally, I believe in the principle that if you make your bed, you lie in it.

Your correspondent chooses to live above a working and, until recently, thriving theatre - yet appears reluctant to accept that, from time to time, there may be just a little inconvenience.

Dare I suggest that such an attitude is akin to the person who buys a house on the banks of the River

Severn without ever expecting to get their feet wet!
