DEAR EDITOR - As residents of Millfield/Brook Road wish to draw your attention and that of Bromsgrove District Council to the happenings listed below:-
1 On numerous occasions our properties have been pelted with eggs and stones. Window panes have been smashed and boundary walls damaged or demolished.
2 Those responsible are the yobs who gather in small numbers at the small children's playground area at the bottom of Millfield/Brook Road and along Spadesbourne Walk. On Friday and Saturday nights there are up to fifty teenagers there - well equipped with plastic bags full of alcohol. Some are well under age. They also all smoke and are very noisy.
3 After consuming the alcohol and a night out on the town, they start to wander home. That's when we get car windows and lights smashed, and bodywork dented. And why they have to shout at three o'clock in the morning nobody knows.
4 The children's play area was used by children of all ages. Not now - as it is out of commission more than in. The yobs see to that by breaking swings and setting fire to the bins. They have chopped some trees down, with either a machete or large knife. What would you want to carry one of those for? If you go down to this area on a Saturday morning, you will find it covered with cans and plastic carrier bags, smashed glass bottles and rubbish in the brook.
5 On the whole, our area of Bromsgrove has really gone down and our road is in need of resurfacing. We also have speeding vehicles.
Action is called for, but little has happened. It seems there is no return for the council taxes paid.
We don't want a reply - we want something done.
Residents of Millfield/Brook Road,
Bromsgrove
