Evesham Utd 2, Solihull Boro 1
NEW signings Wesley Joyce and Paul Hunter were quick to make their mark as Evesham recorded a sixth straight league win at Common Road last Saturday.
The pair, signed from Bromyard Town and Hinckley United respectively, were brought in to help halt a run of four successive defeats - all away from home and they certainly did their bit to lift Phil Mullen's men.
Skipper Darren Bullock led by example and he struck the Borough bar early on.
Shaun Pratt was playing alongside Joyce and Hunter, who was close to a debut goal with an acrobatic scissors kick.
However, he wasn't so unlucky after 32 minutes when the newcomer curled in a superb shot that left Solihull keeper Mike Payne flailing at thin air.
United's back four were also far more settled as they sought to quell the high-flying visitors and Chris Taylor needed to be at his best to keep out an effort from Andy Corbett before half-time.
A welcome second goal finally came United's way 18 minutes from time when Joyce gained deserved reward for a bustling display with a blistering drive from 20 yards.
Steve Lutz missed a golden opportunity to make it 3-0 before Junior Hewitt netted a consolation a minute from time but it wasn't enough to end Evesham's barren recent spell.
