BOSS Dave Titterton admitted Stourport Swifts have a long way to go after their 4-1 humbling by Bromsgrove Rovers in the Dr Martens Cup first round on Tuesday.
The Walshes Meadow club, who have enjoyed a revival under the new boss, conceded two goals in either half as Western Division leaders Rovers defeated them for the second time this season.
Titterton said: "Four individual errors and four goals, it's as simple as that.
"As a unit and a club we have got a long way to go. Rovers are a good team, that's why they are top of the league and it was a good test to see how far we've come.
"On this evidence we've still got a long way to go and a lot of work to do.
"The higher you go the more you get punished for your mistakes and they kept the ball well.
"But from our point of view it wasn't good enough and I expected more but it wasn't a 4-1 game.
"We're still on a learning curve and I told the lads not to get despondent because we've got a big game on Saturday and we'll take it from there."
Steve Frost put Rovers ahead after 22 minutes with a bullet header following a Stewart Brighton inspired move.
And the two combined on 35 minutes when Frost added his second with a lob over Rob Clarke.
El Hadj Malick Sall reduced the arrears two minutes before the break but Swifts fell further behind on 49 minutes with a sublime chip from Paul Danks who caught Clarke off his line from 30 yards.
On 61 minutes, Mark Clifton poked the ball home from close range to complete the scoring.
Swifts' chances were few and far between with Steve Ulfig heading just wide in the 26th minute and Tim Nicholls forcing a good save from Matt Lowe in stoppage time.
Rovers were denied a fifth goal when a Richard Burgess effort was ruled offside.
