AN appeal in the Advertiser earlier this month saw 14 people from Redditch interested in becoming a Barnardo's Short Break carer.
The charity said it was delighted with the response after it launched an appeal for volunteers to help families of disabled children in the county.
Barnardo's Worcestershire Short Breaks Project gives people a chance to look after a disabled child on a regular basis from a few hours a month to a weekend.
It gives parents a much needed break and gives the children the opportunity to meet new friends and enjoy new activities.
Since the appeal across the county, 40 people from Redditch, Droitwich, Bromsgrove and Worcester have contacted the charity to find out more.
Carers can be any age over 18, married or single, retired, unemployed or working.
People do not need experience as they receive training and ongoing support.
