LICENSEES at a Worcester theme pub, plunged into a Euro-row over serving beer in litres, will be served with a final notice on Monday, urging them to pull pints.

Andrea Schutz and Anton Limlei, of The Cardinal's Hat, have 28 days to comply.

Worcestershire's Trading Standards officers have warned that by serving Austrian beer in metric measures they are breaking British law.

But since the Evening News exclusively revealed the story earlier this month, support has been flooding in for the Austrian-style bar in Friar Street, to be allowed to continue.

The Metric Martyrs and the British Weights and Measures Association (BWMA) has joined the campaign along with Midland Euro MPs.

"Newspapers and television have been great and hopefully we will be OK but it is still very difficult to say," said Mr Limlei.

Greengrocers Steve Thorburn and Neil Herron, who were convicted for not selling fruit in metric quantities were both at the pub yesterday, to offer their support.
