THE top talent in the county will be on show this weekend.

More than 13,000 visitors are expected to flock to the annual Skills on Show exhibition at County Hall, Spetchley, Worcester.

Exhibitors, performers, businesses and crafts people will be showing off their talents at the event, which is due to take place today and tomorrow.

It is being billed as "the year's biggest free show of county talent".

"Exhibitors and performers' slots were fully booked months in advance," said a spokesman for Worcestershire County Council, which is organising the event.

At the show, there will be an Enterprise Zone, containing the best in Worcestershire businesses.

Exhibitors in the Enterprise Zone will include complimentary therapists, Indian head massagers, reflexologists, and reiki and acupressure practitioners.

There will be antique furniture, designer metal sculptures, Gothic mirrors, blown glass, glass swords, wedding dresses, contemporary art, hand-crafted hats and soft furnishings.

The Pershore Group of Colleges will have fruit juice, cider, perry, honey and plants for sale in a marquee decorated with students' floral displays.

DARE, a contemporary art and design business in Bewdley, will demonstrate specialist painting techniques and children will be able to produce their own designs to take home.

"The Enterprise Zone is dedicated to those small businesses that the county council has helped to get started," said a spokesman.

"It gives them the opportunity to show and sell their products and services in a unique setting."

Skills on Show, which last year drew 13,000 visitors, will run from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
