MALVERN Town take their place in the First Round Proper of the FA Carlsberg Vase tomorrow (Saturday) when they host Norton United of the North West Counties League Division Two (3pm).

Town will be bidding for a place in the second round proper, a stage they have reached on only two previous occasions and they should be hopeful of progressing.

Their Staffordshire based opponents have not got off to the best of starts to the season, losing five of their nine league matches to date and were knocked out of the Staffordshire Vase last weekend and the League Cup during the previous week.

But Town general manager Richard Anson was quick to play down any thoughts of complacency and said: "I know we have been studying their recent results, but we have not seen them play and it would be totally wrong to jump to any conclusions.

"But the competition is very high on our list of priorities and this was emphasised to the players at training on Tuesday night."

Town coach Neil Hunt, backed up Anson's view: "We see the Vase as high priority and to be fair, as I said after the Ettingshall game last Saturday, we do not normally have a problem raising our game for the bigger matches, it's just that we have a habit of dropping points when we least expect too."

Town will select from: Alden, Cannon, Williams (C), Clayton, Williams (B), Walker, Ward, Halion, Owen, Roberts (P), Graham, Hooper, Roberts (D), Cox, Scott, Azor and Wade.

Any replay will be on Wednesday at Norton, kick off 7.45pm.
