AT this early stage in the Whatley Recordon sponsored Malvern Table Tennis League, CSSC Ramblers lead the way in Division One with nine points from four matches.

They recorded successive victories over Manor Park Amateurs and an under strength YMCA Magpies side minus Mark Jones with Graham Thompson and Chris Hewitt unbeaten in both matches.

However they came unstuck against an in-form Grosvenor Eagles side who gained a 9-1 win to make it maximum points for them in their first two matches.

Chris Hewitt got Ramblers consolation in the first game of the evening beating Ian Bell before Eagles took over with Dave White and Norman Merchant remaining unbeaten.

Both Ledbury teams have eight points from three matches with Merlins and Lions lying in third and fourth places respectively.

Merlins latest victory came over Manor Park Pumas by 8-2. Nigel Foreshaw and Mike Wheatley were unbeaten for Merlins with Pumas wins coming from Dave Hallam, who beat Mike Morgan in the final game of the evening having previously partnered Jon Dyke to victory in the doubles.

Lions have gained victories in their last two matches against Manor Park sides Oak by 7-3 and defending champions Cavaliers 6-4.

Unfortunately Cavaliers could only field two players on the night with Dave Saer being the mainstay for Lions remaining unbeaten. Manor Park Express opened their account with a 9-1 win over Manor Park Amateurs. Dave Woodyatt and Ray Page were unbeaten for Express with Amateurs consolation coming from Dave De Souza.
