BROMSGROVE Rovers are set to receive a boost ahead of tomorrow's clash at Solihull Borough (3pm) with the return of former midfield star Fraser McHugh.

The Dr Martens Western Division leaders are poised to snap up the player on loan after his departure from Unibond Premier Division outfit Gainsborough Trinity, who are managed by ex-Worcester City striker Phil Stant.

McHugh joined Tamworth last year and helped them finish second in the Dr Martens Premier Division before linking up with Stant but after just three months he has left the Lincolnshire club.

Joint manager Jon Ford admitted he would be delighted to secure McHugh's services for a few games as cover while they try to bring in a few more players.

"We're a bit thin on the ground at the moment but I spoke to Fraser and told him he still needed to play and keep fit and hopefully he will come in on loan," he said. "He's a fantastic player and at this level the best midfield player in the league."

Ford, who returned to action in Rovers 3-1 Birmingham Senior Cup win at Atherstone in midweek, will be on the bench for the Solihull match.

Rovers are without Neil Cartwright and Matt Southwick, both with hamstring injuries, but James Dyson with three goals in two matches is set to start.
