WITH Madresfield playing their first home Soccer Site Malvern League game this season and also having yet more players available this was always going to be a close game against the much-fancied Morgan Aero 8.

MADRESFIELD 6, MORGAN 5

Unfortunately for the visitors Madresfield at last showed something of the ability they have threatened in their previous three games, as straight from the kick off the second pass saw Adam Morse break through the Morgan defence, pull the ball back for Wayne Eggerton to fire home from close range, the goal timed at 22 seconds.

Fifteen minutes later with Madresfield throwing everything forward Wayne Cadmore scored putting them two up despite the excellent defending of Alan Berrows for the visitors.

The experienced Morgan team hit back with two good goals to equalise and it seemed to be going in at half time all square. Just before the whistle however Wayne Cadmore put Madresfield back in front to end a thrilling first period.

There was no let up in the second half with both sides battling hard.

Morgan would not give up and again brought the score level but a few minutes later Adam Morse got himself on the score sheet to again give Madresfield the lead.

Morgan again struck back to equalise before Steve Davies in the visitor's goal made a fine save with the help of the bar and upright denying Ty Fisher of a deserved goal for the home side.

Then up popped Madresfield's Adam Morse to rifle in a shot even Davies couldn't stop for the home side to go back in front.

Ritchie Bird seemed to have rescued a point for the Morgan with a good goal but in the dying minute Cadmore got the winner, his hat-trick, to give Madresfield the result they just about deserved.

Man of the match was Ty Fisher.

On Sunday Madresfield are away to Bell Inn 98, meeting time 9.15am, team selection 9.45am.
