POWICK travelled to Worcester to play Coppertops, who are top of Worcester Sunday League Division One, knowing that it would be a very difficult game.

COPPERTOPS 1, POWICK 2

The match started with Coppertops having most of the play and Powick seemed to be defending for long periods.

In the 15th minute Powick's Chris Cooke was carried off and replaced by Dave Buckley. Three minutes later Darren Goldingay went off with a sprained ankle and was replaced by Chris Golding and these changes did upset the balance of the team.

In the 38th minute Powick's Mike Pearson handled the ball in the penalty area and Coppertops went one up from the penalty spot.

In the second half Powick seemed to settle down and started to pass the ball around better. The Coppertops' defence kept Powick at bay and a couple of fine saves by their keeper kept them in the match.

Coppertops should have gone two up when their forward beat the offside trap and went round the keeper but put the ball wide of the post.

In the 60th minute Powick's persistence paid off when a move up the left by Lee Evans found Lee Richardson who crossed the ball for Rob Davies to equalise.

For the next 25 minutes both sides made every effort to win the game but it was Powick in the 88th minute who scored when Lee Richardson's cross was converted by Dave Buckley to make the final score 1-2.

Man of the match was Lee Evans.

Powick's next Sunday game is at home to Colwall.
