DEAR EDITOR - I was horrified to read the report re: the objections for enhancement to the football pitches off New Inns Lane, Rubery.

Have the residents in Clent Road and the Lickey Park residents forgotten they were young once. Their selfish attitude is hard to believe. Would they prefer that the youngsters were learning to break into their houses to get money to pay for drugs?

I can only praise Mr Rudge and his helpers for their unstinting voluntary work in organising these football teams. Well done - I am right behind you.

I am not connected to the Callowbrook Swifts but my grandsons play for Rubery Juniors and AKA Northbridge teams. Here again, I would like to thank the managers, coaches and other helpers for their dedication.

B Thompson,

Callowbrook Lane,

Rubery.
