HEADLESS Cross Ladies are gunning for league leaders Fairfield Villa at the weekend and are hoping striker Mandy Ellicott can reproduce the form which saw her score an incredible eight against Knowle at the weekend.

Rob Auld's side quickly warmed to their new surroundings at Alvechurch's Lye Meadow ground by recording an emphatic 13-1 win over a side they always enjoy playing.

Teresa Boddington added two and Rebecca Watson, Denise Markham and Melanie Potter joined in the fun as Cross went third, seven points behind the leaders, who visit Lye Meadow on Sunday (ko 2pm).

Cross have secured a deal to play at Lye Meadow whenever the pitch is not being used by Alvechurch under 13s, who have already been promised use of it after tenants Kings Heath moved out.

In the event of any clashes, Headless will return to the Abbey Stadium, Redditch.

Auld was quick to deflect praise onto his midfield after the weekend slaughter.

Midfielder Alison Johnson is set to return on Sunday after a knee injury to give Auld a fully-fit squad of 17 players to pick from to take on Fairfield.

A win would see Cross leapfrog their rivals having played one game more.
