A WEST Midlands Euro MP has attacked plans that could see stranded motorists left at the roadside to fend for themselves.

Philip Bradbourn has criticised the Markov Report, which is currently going through the European Parliament.

The report could see current driving restrictions extended to road services, which could result in the public being left at the side of the road if rescue workers have fulfilled their allocated hours.

Costs to consumer

Road rescue workers would also have to employ more staff to cover work, and costs will be passed on to the consumer.

"This report claims that it will bring safety to the roads when, in fact, it will create the opposite," said Mr Bradbourn.

"Extending these strict rules to road rescue services will result in staff, who have trained to help people, being stopped from doing so."
