THE Mayor of Pershore has launched the new Online@Pershore Learn Direct Centre.
Councillor Richard Hampton was joined by Dr Heather Barrett-Mold, principal of Pershore Group of Colleges, which oversees the Bridge Street centre.
Guests at thi week's launch included learners, councillors, college staff, governors and business people.
They had been invited to the centre to celebrate its achievements since it opened in June this year.
"Although the centre has only been open for a few months, over 300 learners have signed up for learning programmes," said Julie Westlake, head of marketing. "This is a terrific achievement and would indicate that the centre is answering a need."
Visitors can access flexible, computer-based learning packages on a wide range of topics, including computing, presentation and telephone skills and the environment. Courses are available at basic, advanced and expert level.
In all, half-a-million courses are available through the Learn Direct system, which is a Government initiative.
Unlimited advice and guidance is also available, as well as use of e-mail for registered learners.
The centre is open from 10am to 8pm, Monday to Thursday, 10am to 6pm on Friday and 10am to 3pm on Saturday.
